Last saturday we went to the Kuipers family farm to walk through the apple orchards. We never actually got to walk in the Orchard because turns out you can't take baby carriages with you in the Orchard and neither Mary Beth or I wanted to carry Micah around. We did however get to enjoy some delicious donuts and a walk around the farm. Unfortunately we only got to take one picture as the camera battery died out. Write Comment (0 comments) |

There's really not much to do when it's late in the night and I'm waiting on news of some data load processes, so I guess I'll take advantage of the down time and upload some pictures from a few weekends ago. Dad's church celebrated 150 years of membership in the United Methodist denomination. The church has actually been around for a little while longer than that. It began as a gathering of christians in the midwest in the 1840's. Write Comment (0 comments) |

Jessica and Jennifer were baptised today during the annual church picnic of the East White Oak Bible Church. Today's service and baptism was held outdoors at a lake near Bloomington IL. I am so incredibly proud of their decision to make this public display their faith in front of their friends, family and community. To enlarge image, right-click on image then click on 'view image' . In keeping with Indian tradition Morrison and Purvi invited 300 of their closest friends and relatives to celebrate Shayna's first birthday. And those friends invited their friends and relatives. And those folks invited their friends and relatives. Well, not exactly. But you get the picture. There were a LOT of people at the party. And a lot of food. Here are a few leftover pictures from our trip to the islands. This is the Jalopy we rented. The rental agent assured me this was the Lex of the islands, I think she may have been a pirate in an earlier life, and perhaps I had a little too much rum at the time. While MaryBeth hung on to Micah I put this bad boy through the paces, and managed to stay on the left hand side of the road for the most part. Thankfully there was a large sticker on the windshield that while reminding you to stay on the left of the road unfortunately obstructed your sight of the road. It has a suprisingly roomy trunk, a stroller fits in nicely. I even got laughed at by the gas station attendent. When he opened the fuel door, he said 'Mon where's the gas cap?' 'Don't you see the sock', I replied. Baby car seat Bahamian style. I know I'm going to get grief from the family over this, but heck it important to go native to really experience the culture. I got over Mary Beth's objections with assurances that a 3 cylinder car can't do more than 25 on a downhill anyway. Trust me, it didn't. This little guy must have learnt something about going native, when we got back to the hotel he refused to be strapped in the stroller and decided to stand on the foot rest. Wonder where he learns this from? Somewhere in heaven my mom must be smiling, knowing I'm going to get paid back double for all the grief I caused her growing up. Write Comment (1 comments) |
